Abstract
We propose a new method to search for fifth forces at micron scales, by resonantly exciting the motional state of ground-state-cooled atoms in optical tweezer arrays. We develop a homodyne readout protocol based on sideband thermometry, which can approach the Standard Quantum Limit, and expand the discovery reach for fifth forces by up to four orders of magnitude compared to existing constraints. We show that this level of sensitivity can also probe well-motivated models of extra dimensions beyond the current tabletop state of the art, by leveraging the parametric enhancement of higher-dimensional gravity.
