Abstract
An approach to simulating complex photonic systems is the eigenmode expansion method, in which scattering matrices are used to model and track the electric field in layered media. In this work, we formulate parametric nonlinear processes within the eigenmode expansion framework, enabling the simulation of nonlinear generation in varying photonic systems. This new simulation method includes both classical nonlinear processes and their quantum counterparts, including spontaneous parametric down-conversion and spontaneous four-wave mixing.
